Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties: Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support. Interprets manuals and required guidelines for traffic operations. Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff. May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks. Performs engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts. Provides technical assistance in drainage design, resolution of drainage complaints, hydraulics evaluations and other hydrology matters. Represents the district/division at various meetings. Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for transportation projects. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
