Transportation Dispatcher

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Transportation Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily flow of freight and shipments across our supply chain network. In this vital role, you will serve as the communication hub between carriers, drivers, warehouse teams, and clients to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate transportation operations. Your proactive approach will help optimize routes, resolve issues promptly, and maintain seamless logistics processes that keep our business moving forward. Responsibilities Coordinate transportation schedules using transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software such as SyteLine and AS400 to plan routes efficiently. Communicate clearly and professionally with carriers, drivers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems, ensuring all parties are informed of updates or changes. Monitor freight movements throughout the supply chain process, tracking shipments and resolving delays or issues swiftly to maintain delivery timelines. Enter data accurately into shipping & receiving logs, freight management systems, and related databases to ensure real-time visibility of shipments. Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings, route improvements, or process efficiencies. Manage shipping & receiving documentation, including manifests, bills of lading, and delivery confirmations with attention to detail. Provide exceptional phone etiquette and communication skills when addressing inquiries or resolving transportation-related concerns. Qualifications Proven experience with transportation management systems (TMS), SyteLine, AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms. Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, freight operations, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy in typing and record keeping. Demonstrated analysis skills to interpret transportation data and optimize routing strategies. Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures along with related documentation requirements. Effective communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for multi-line phone systems. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
