Transportation Dispatcher Pay: $72,000 – $100,000 per year Job Type: Full-time Location: Stockton, CA 95215 Work Location: In person Job Description We are hiring an experienced Transportation Dispatcher to join our team in Stockton, CA. We are looking for a reliable, highly organized, and motivated individual who can work well in a fast-paced transportation environment. This position works closely with drivers, customers, management, and other members of the dispatch team to coordinate daily operations, meet customer deadlines, and keep loads moving efficiently. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can manage multiple priorities at once, stay organized under pressure, and quickly adjust when schedules or transportation needs change. Prior transportation dispatch experience is required. Duties & Responsibilities Schedule and dispatch drivers based on customer requirements, predetermined schedules, equipment availability, and operational needs. Coordinate daily driver assignments, pickups, deliveries, and schedule changes. Communicate accurate and timely information to drivers, customers, supervisors, and other departments by phone, text, and email. Monitor daily schedules and make adjustments as operational needs change. Communicate with customers and supervisors to address scheduling issues, delays, service requests, and other transportation-related matters. Prepare and maintain daily dispatch schedules, work orders, dispatch sheets, and driver information. Maintain clear communication within assigned territories and ensure important information is properly relayed to the appropriate parties. Track and organize customer requests, work requests, completed work, service charges, expenses, equipment information, and other dispatch-related records. Follow up with drivers throughout the day to help ensure pickups and deliveries are completed as scheduled. Work closely with other dispatchers and departments to ensure effective communication and coverage. Maintain accurate and organized records. Assist with resolving day-to-day transportation and scheduling issues as they arise. Perform other dispatch and operational duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills Minimum 1 year of transportation dispatching experience required. Transportation or trucking industry experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and clerical skills. Ability to manage multiple drivers, schedules, routes, customers, and priorities simultaneously. Strong computer skills and ability to learn dispatch and scheduling systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change throughout the day. Ability to remain professional and calm under pressure. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, supervisors, and coworkers. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
