Transportation Coordinator

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Transportation Coordinator to join our logistics team. Responsibilities Coordinate daily road transportation operations, including dispatching vehicles and managing freight movements to meet delivery schedules. Utilize transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and vehicle dispatch software to plan routes, track shipments, and optimize fleet utilization. Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms to ensure smooth operations. Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, analyze route efficiency, and troubleshoot logistical issues promptly. Manage shipping & receiving activities, ensuring accurate data entry into logistics systems like SyteLine and transportation management platforms. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations by maintaining proper documentation, conducting safety checks, and adhering to federal transportation standards. Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing inquiries related to freight status, scheduling changes, or customer concerns. Support supply chain initiatives by analyzing transportation data for continuous improvement opportunities and cost-saving measures. Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate freight movement and optimize supply chain efficiency. Maintain organized records of dispatch logs, incident reports, shipment documentation, and compliance files for audit readiness. Skills Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS tracking tools, and vehicle dispatch software. Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, logistics management, and transportation planning principles. Experience with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills for internal coordination and external customer service interactions. Familiarity with DOT regulations governing freight transport safety standards and documentation requirements. Data entry accuracy combined with analysis skills for interpreting logistical data trends. Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with fleet management practices. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and correspondence purposes.
