Transportation Coordinator

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Transportation Coordinator to join our logistics team! In this vital role, you will orchestrate the smooth movement of freight and shipments, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal supply chain operations. Your proactive approach and excellent communication skills will help coordinate with carriers, internal teams, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to maintain efficiency across all transportation activities. Responsibilities Manage transportation schedules using transportation management systems (TMS) to ensure accurate routing and delivery timelines. Coordinate shipments with 3PL providers, freight carriers, and internal departments to optimize freight movement and reduce delays. Enter and update shipment data accurately in systems to maintain real-time visibility. Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and process enhancements. Oversee shipping & receiving activities, ensuring proper documentation, labeling, and compliance with company policies. Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Monitor freight status, troubleshoot issues promptly, and provide clear updates to stakeholders to ensure seamless logistics flow. Qualifications Proven experience with transportation management systems. Strong understanding of supply chain processes, freight management, shipping & receiving procedures. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in typing and analysis skills are essential. Effective communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for interacting with carriers and internal teams. Ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Knowledge of shipping regulations, freight documentation, and logistics best practices is preferred. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with a focus on analysis skills to optimize transportation operations.
