Transportation Claims Investigator Alexander, Winton & Associates (AWA) Base Salary: $52,000 per year + Performance-Based Bonuses Total Annual Earnings Potential: $300,000+ for experienced, high-performing investigators Job Type: Full-time Work Location: In person About the Opportunity Alexander, Winton & Associates is seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and persuasive professional to join our team as a Transportation Claims Investigator. This is not a traditional collections position. Our investigators handle complex freight payment disputes, investigate potential shipper liability, develop strategies to establish responsibility for unpaid freight charges, and negotiate directly with the businesses responsible for payment. You will communicate with freight brokers, shippers, receivers, business owners, financial departments, and C-suite executives. Success requires more than making phone calls or sending payment requests. It requires the ability to investigate the facts, connect the dots, build a persuasive case, challenge objections, and negotiate a resolution. The earning potential is exceptional for those who can deliver results. The position offers a $52,000 annual base salary plus performance-based bonuses. Experienced investigators who consistently produce results have the opportunity to earn $300,000 or more annually. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, is comfortable challenging others professionally, and is motivated by the opportunity to turn their investigative and negotiation skills into substantial earnings. What You Will Do Investigate and Analyze Claims Investigate unpaid freight invoices and complex transportation payment disputes to determine the facts and identify parties potentially responsible for payment. Review invoices, bills of lading, shipping records, correspondence, and other documentation to develop a clear understanding of each claim. Identify inconsistencies, uncover relevant information, evaluate competing explanations, and determine the best approach for moving each claim toward resolution. Develop fact-based arguments that support our clients' claims and address disputed issues. Build and Present a Persuasive Case Establish the factual and contractual basis for payment claims using available documentation, applicable agreements, and relevant information. Explain the basis of a claim clearly and persuasively to the individuals responsible for evaluating and approving payment. Anticipate objections, recognize weaknesses in opposing arguments, and respond with well-supported explanations. Adapt your approach to the circumstances of each case rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all collection process. Negotiate and Secure Results Communicate directly with freight brokers, shippers, receivers, business owners, and corporate executives to resolve disputed freight charges. Lead professional, substantive negotiations with decision-makers who may initially deny responsibility or resist payment. Overcome objections through preparation, research, persistence, and persuasive communication. Identify leverage, evaluate available options, and develop strategies designed to secure payment for our clients. Maintain control of negotiations while preserving professionalism and credibility. Manage Your Own Portfolio Independently manage a portfolio of 200 or more active claims. Prioritize accounts according to their circumstances, potential, deadlines, and opportunities for resolution. Maintain consistent follow-up, accurate documentation, and clear records of investigative findings and negotiation activity. Take ownership of each claim from initial review through resolution, identifying the next steps necessary to keep it moving forward. What Makes a Successful Investigator? We are looking for someone who approaches a difficult claim like an investigator and a negotiation like a strategist. The ideal candidate is: Analytical: Able to examine information, recognize inconsisten…
