Air Force Test CenterPublished Sept. 30, 2026 About the Role: The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Transportation Assistant (Passenger and Personal Property) (NK-2102-02) to work at the 412th Mission Support Group, 412th Logistics Readiness Squadron, at Edwards AFB, in Edwards, CA . The mission of the 412 LRS is "Warfighters delivering global logistics support for The Center of the Aerospace Testing Universe!". The purpose of this position is to provide information and advice to military and civilian personnel regarding their entitlements for domestic and international shipment and storage of personal property (e.g., household goods, unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and special items such as mobile homes and large boats) and to provide passenger travel services for all personnel assigned or attached to the Air Force Test Center (AFTC). Announcement Closes: 10/12/2026 Location: Edwards AFB, CA Typical 2026 salary range: $47,490 - $76,476 per year (includes locality) Travel Requirements: No Travel Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD) Desired Skills: Knowledge of basic office automation software to perform functions such as standardized word processing, data entry and retrieval for reports and spreadsheets, and similar work. Certification as a qualified typist is not required. Ability to respond to a range of questions from agencies, personnel, carriers, and others regarding the shipment and storage of household goods. Skill in oral and written communications and ability to analyze, correlate, and evaluate transportation data to resolve problems and advise providers and customers. Major Duties: Counsels and advises military and civilian personnel on the domestic or international movement of personal property based on an analysis and interpretation of transportation tariffs, entitlements, and and/or classifications or rate structure. Provides general and specific information to answer questions and explain rights and responsibilities. Calculates costs, or reviews and verifies shippers' invoices for proper charges. Arranges for special situations such as transportation of remains of deceased personnel and their dependents or escorts, movement of animals, ammunition, valuable articles, etc. Maintains travel and passenger traffic records, reports, and correspondence. Determines and collects transportation cost differences from personnel when applicable. Maintains auditable documentation of travel accomplished including backup information. Creates or updates various reports for internal and higher use on travel and personnel/goods movement, modes of transportation used, costs, and a variety of other matters. Qualifications/Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. Must be able to obtain & maintain Secret security clearance 4 years above high school Knowledge or the full range of transportation operations as related to the shipment of personal property. Knowledge or the instructions, regulations, directives, local operating procedures, governing entitlements, and shipment of personal property. Knowledge of tariffs and government contracts regarding travel arrangements and of military and commercial modes of travel and how to arrange reservations for authorized travelers. Knowledge of automated transportation systems and procedures to include inbound/outbound.
