Northshore Education ConsortiumTransportation AssistantReports to: Transportation ManagerReference number: NEC2027HStatus: Full-time, non-exemptPosition SummaryNorthshore Education Consortium (NEC) seeks a Transportation Assistant to support the day-to-day administrative work of its Regional Special Education Transportation Program as well as our internal fleet. The assistant updates transportation records, processes routine service requests, and communicates information to stakeholders under the direction of the Transportation Manager.Key ResponsibilitiesEnter and update student transportation requests, addresses, schedules, route changes, cancellations, and other service information.Maintain accurate student, route, vehicle, driver, and monitor records in NEC transportation systems, including 7D Connect.Record student-specific transportation needs, such as wheelchair access, safety equipment, monitors, nursing support, and other accommodations, as provided by the appropriate school team.Respond to routine questions and share service updates with school districts, NEC programs, and the transportation vendor. Refer safety concerns, service problems, and decisions requiring approval to the Transportation Manager.Collect, organize, and track required driver, monitor, and vehicle documentation; flag missing or expiring items for the Transportation Manager.Assist with data entry and checking records as NEC uses 7D Connect.Help maintain records for NEC-owned vehicles and internal drivers, including registrations, inspections, licenses, certifications, and maintenance documentation.Maintain confidential student and personnel information and complete other related administrative tasks as assigned.Assist with maintaining internal fleet, this includes but not limited to bringing vehicles to various locations for inspections, maintenance, refueling, etc.Fill in for lunch courier when needed.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.One to two years of administrative, transportation, dispatch, school office, or related experience preferred.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage changing information and deadlines.Comfort using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and learning transportation software.Current MA drivers licenseComfortable driving passenger vansAbility to complete NEC driver trainingClear, professional communication and sound judgment when handling time-sensitive or confidential matters.Experience in special education or student transportation is helpful.Position DetailsSalary range: $50,000$60,000Anticipated start date: October 13, 2026This position is funded through NECs Regional Transportation Contract.How to ApplyPlease apply through SchoolSpring or candidates may send a cover letter, resume, and references to Nancy Celli, HR Director at ncelli@nsedu.org.
