Transportation Analyst Location: New Jersey Reports to: VP of Walmart Operations Type: Full-time, exempt About the Walmart team JEM's Walmart team turns every Walmart and Sam's Club purchase order into an on-time, in-full delivery. The Transportation Analyst sits on this team, reports to the VP of Walmart Operations, and is based in New Jersey. What we ship: Walmart and Sam's Club POs from two 3PL warehouses to Walmart and Sam's Club distribution centers. How we ship: mostly collect through Walmart's consolidation centers (ACC), prepaid when needed. Our rhythm: POs arrive Tue–Thu and ship within 4 business days. Orders are processed by noon CT the next business day. Monday–Friday, no weekends. Our systems: EDI system, Retail Link / Supplier One, Walmart Transportation app, NOVA, internal system, Excel. How we're measured: Walmart's OTIF (On-Time In-Full) scorecard. Role summary The Transportation Analyst owns every Walmart order from the moment it has a sales order until it is delivered and the ASN is accepted. You release orders to our 3PLs, secure Walmart routing before the deadline, make sure the ASN lands before the truck does, and protect our on-time score at every DC. Key responsibilities Warehouse release Release pick tickets and UCC-128 case labels to both 3PLs the same day the sales order is created. Communicate directly with each warehouse on order status, priorities, pick timing and issues. Confirm each 3PL acknowledged the release and give a pick-complete / load-ready date. Routing (collect) Monitor auto-routed loads and confirm assignment within 24–48 hours. Build and upload manual routing requests for manually routed DCs in the Walmart Transportation app by the routing deadline. Open a Walmart Transportation ticket the moment a load is not assigned on time, and escalate any load at risk of missing its ship window. Book and confirm ACC pickups and appointments; resolve missed appointments and reschedules. Prepaid freight When a prepaid shipment is approved, book carrier and delivery appointment through our broker and track it to delivery. Track prepaid freight cost per shipment and report it monthly. Ship confirmation and ASN Get same-day ship confirmation, BOL and PRO/tracking numbers from each 3PL. Validate shipments in our internal system and send the 856 ASN through our EDI system so it arrives before the load reaches Walmart. Match ASN quantities and carton counts to the BOL and the PO; correct mismatches before Walmart rejects or charges back. Performance and improvement Track every PO against its ship window and MABD (Must Arrive By Date) and flag at-risk orders daily. Review the weekly OTIF scorecard in Retail Link, find the root cause of every on-time miss, and own the fix. Dispute transportation-related deductions (late ASN, carton label, appointment and compliance charges). Document every step so a trained backup can run it. What success looks like (first 12 months) Measure Target Orders released to 3PL same day as SO 100% Manual routing requests submitted by deadline 100% ASN sent before load arrives at Walmart 100% On-time portion of OTIF At or above Walmart's target Transportation deductions disputed within 30 days 100% Backup trained on routing and ASN steps Within 90 days Qualifications Required 3+ years in transportation, logistics or supply chain, with at least 1 year shipping to Walmart or another big-box retailer. Hands-on with Walmart collect routing: the Walmart Transportation app, Supplier One / Retail Link, and Walmart's routing and OTIF rules. Working knowledge of EDI documents 850, 856 (ASN), 940 and 945. Strong Excel (lookups, pivot tables, templates). Experience working with 3PLs, carriers and brokers on FTL, LTL and parcel. Comfortable owning deadlines in a fast, Tue–Thu-heavy order week. Preferred Experience with EDI platforms and ERP systems. Experience with ACC / consolidation programs and prepaid freight booking.
