Transportation Account Specialist

Position Overview The Transportation Account Specialist is responsible for supporting customer accounts, coordinating daily transportation needs, and assisting with customer pricing and bid preparation. This position serves as a key point of contact between customers, dispatch, and internal operations to ensure loads are scheduled, appointments are coordinated, and customer expectations are met. This role is focused on customer service, organization, communication, and account support, while also helping the company prepare for new business opportunities through rate research and historical data collection. Key Responsibilities Customer Account Management & Service Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts. Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers. Respond to customer questions, requests, and scheduling needs in a timely manner. Communicate with customers regarding load updates, changes, and appointment adjustments. Work closely with dispatch and operations to ensure customer expectations are being met. Maintain accurate customer information and account records. Load Scheduling & Appointment Coordination Schedule pickup and delivery appointments with shippers and receivers. Coordinate appointment changes, cancellations, and rescheduling as needed. Communicate appointment details and requirements to the appropriate operations personnel. Monitor upcoming shipments to help ensure appointments are secured and loads are moving according to schedule. Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts and communication gaps between customers and operations. Pricing & Bid Support Assist with preparing customer quotes and transportation bids. Gather and organize historical pricing information from previous bids and customer lanes. Review previous rates, lane history, mileage, and other relevant transportation data. Compile information to help management evaluate competitive and profitable pricing. Maintain organized records of customer bids, quotes, and awarded business. Assist with preparing pricing information for existing and prospective customers. Internal Communication & Operations Support Work closely with dispatch, driver managers, and management. Communicate customer requirements and expectations to the appropriate departments. Help identify opportunities to improve customer service and scheduling processes. Maintain accurate and timely documentation. Provide general account support to ensure daily transportation operations run smoothly. Qualifications Previous experience in transportation, logistics, customer service, or administrative support preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Comfortable working with spreadsheets, computer systems, and transportation software. Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently while also being part of a team. Professional and customer-focused approach. Experience with transportation pricing, rate sheets, or bidding platforms is a plus.
