Role Description This full-time, on-site outdoors Transport Refrigeration Technician role is based in Edmonton, AB. The technician installs, maintains, and repairs transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers, including diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and HVAC-related issues. Daily tasks include performing preventive maintenance inspections, troubleshooting system faults, replacing components, and verifying proper temperature control and system performance. The role involves using diagnostic tools, reading technical manuals and wiring diagrams, documenting work performed, and communicating clearly with the service team and customers. The technician follows safety procedures, maintains a clean work area, and supports efficient workflow in the shop and, when required, at customer locations. Qualifications Strong skills in preventive maintenance and general maintenance & repair of transport refrigeration and related mechanical systems. Ability to troubleshoot diesel, transport refrigeration, HVAC, and mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and technical documentation. Practical knowledge of electricity, including wiring, circuits, and safe work practices for electrical components in refrigeration units. Experience with HVAC systems, including refrigeration cycles, compressors, condensers, and evaporators. Relevant technical certification or apprenticeship in refrigeration, HVAC, heavy-duty mechanics, or a closely related field is an asset. Capability to work safely with hand and power tools, lift moderate loads, and perform tasks in a shop and outdoor environment. Attention to detail, reliable time management, and accurate record-keeping for service reports and maintenance logs. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team and interact professionally with customers.
