Trailer Technician
Ready Fleet LLCJob Overview Ready Fleet is seeking a skilled Trailer/Van Technician to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on commercial trailers, including brakes, suspension, electrical and lighting systems, doors, and other trailer components. You will help keep our customers’ trailers safe, reliable, and ready for the road. We’re looking for someone with strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety. Responsibilities 1. Performs preventive maintenance (PM’s) and DOT compliance on trailer equipment. 2. Complete work orders, document parts used, and labor hours for repairs completed. 3. Perform Emergency Roadside Services. 4. Responsible for truck cleanliness and organization. 5. Ensure the service truck is fueled and complete proper maintenance to ensure the service truck remains operational. 6. Guarantee Service truck parts are inventoried and restocked parts as needed - this includes taking along parts that may be needed to complete repairs on site. 7. Communicate effectively with the Manager and Dispatch to coordinate repairs and meet customer requirements. 9. Ensure every mechanic knows how or has the knowledge to complete each task on the checklist given before being certified. 10. Ensures new hires can use Industrack. 11. Has welding experience. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2–3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic/technician, preferably with on-road trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment. Experience with welding. Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and general truck and trailer systems. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain if required. Ability to work independently in the field, make sound decisions, and manage time and routing effectively. Proficiency with basic computers or tablets for work orders and diagnostics. Own basic hand tools suitable for diesel repair; company provides service truck and major equipment (adjust to your policy).
