In this role, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive traffic plans and system designs that support transportation infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Develop detailed traffic plans, including roadway layouts, intersection designs, and traffic control measures using CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Civil 3D. Utilize GIS tools like ArcGIS and System design software such as Bentley OpenRoads to analyze spatial data and create accurate transportation models. Collaborate with project engineers and transportation planners to integrate highway design principles and transportation simulation modeling into project plans. Ensure all designs adhere to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation regulations, and industry standards for transportation infrastructure projects. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and drawings that clearly communicate design intent and project specifications. Manage project schedules effectively, coordinating with team members to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. Support construction management activities by reviewing construction plans, providing system design insights, and assisting with field inspections when necessary. Experience Proven experience in transportation engineering or civil engineering with a focus on highway or transportation planning projects. Strong proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Bentley OpenRoads. Familiarity with GIS platforms including ArcGIS for spatial analysis and mapping tasks. Knowledge of transportation simulation modeling tools and techniques to evaluate traffic flow and system performance. Experience working on transportation infrastructure projects from design through construction phases. Ability to interpret DOT regulations and incorporate them into project designs seamlessly. Excellent technical writing skills for preparing clear reports, specifications, and project documentation. Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks within a team environment.
