Traffic Manager – Food Distribution & Transportation LA Foods LLC – Agoura Hills, CA Full-Time | On-Site Compensation: Salary is negotiable and will be based on experience and qualifications. LA Foods is seeking an experienced Traffic Manager to manage the day-to-day transportation of dry and frozen food products throughout the United States. This is a hands-on transportation position responsible for securing trucks, negotiating freight rates, coordinating pickups and deliveries, tracking shipments, and resolving transportation issues. The ideal candidate has experience in food distribution, truckload transportation, refrigerated/frozen freight, and carrier management . Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily inbound and outbound freight shipments. Manage dry and frozen food transportation . Book and manage full truckload (FTL) shipments, along with LTL shipments. Obtain and negotiate competitive freight rates. Source and develop relationships with reliable carriers and freight brokers. Schedule pickups and delivery appointments with suppliers, customers, carriers, and 3PL warehouses. Track shipments from pickup through delivery. Proactively identify and resolve late pickups, delayed deliveries, rejected loads, appointment issues, and other transportation problems. Ensure the correct equipment and temperature requirements are communicated for the type of shipments required. Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities to reduce transportation expenses. Manage detention, layovers, lumper fees, redelivery charges, and other freight accessorials. Review freight invoices and investigate discrepancies when necessary. Communicate shipment status and transportation issues with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, customers, and suppliers. Maintain accurate shipment information within the company's transportation systems. Monitor carrier performance and service levels. Assist with freight claims and supporting documentation when required. Qualifications 3+ years of transportation, traffic, freight, or logistics experience required. Food industry transportation experience strongly preferred. Experience managing dry and frozen freight strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of truckload transportation, carriers, brokers, and freight markets. Experience negotiating freight rates and securing transportation capacity. Understanding of temperature-controlled transportation requirements. Experience coordinating with 3PL warehouses, suppliers, and customer receiving locations. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple active shipments and changing priorities. Strong communication and follow-up skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS) preferred. Who Will Succeed in This Role We are looking for someone who takes ownership of freight from pickup through delivery . You should be comfortable negotiating rates, following up with carriers, anticipating problems, communicating delays, and finding solutions quickly when something does not go according to plan. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced food distribution environment where priorities can change throughout the day and transportation issues require immediate attention.
