Unleash your talent and redefine what’s possible. Job Description Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Traffic Designer / Engineering Technologist to join our team! In this role you will get to support a wide range of assignments including multimodal corridor studies, intersection improvement projects, traffic signal design, traffic management plans, signing and pavement marking design, safety improvement initiatives, environmental assessment studies, preliminary and detailed design projects. What You'll Be Doing Assist in the preparation of functional and preliminary traffic designs for roadway and intersection improvement projects. Develop concept plans, design drawings, exhibits, and technical figures using CAD and related design software. Support multimodal transportation projects involving pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and motorists. Prepare traffic signal design drawings, signal layout plans, phasing diagrams, and associated documentation under senior staff supervision. Assist with signing and pavement marking plan development and design reviews. Support the preparation of traffic management plans, temporary traffic control plans, staging concepts, lane closure plans, and detour layouts. Conduct field investigations, site reviews, inventory collection, and existing conditions assessments. Compile, review, and organize traffic data, collision data, signal timing information, and roadway inventory information. Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, operational performance review reports, feasibility assessments, functional design reports, and design documentation. Perform quantity calculations, design checks, and quality reviews of drawings and deliverables. Support environmental assessment and transportation planning projects through design development, alternative evaluation, and documentation. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, planners, and other disciplines to support project delivery. Support construction administration activities including responding to contractor inquiries, shop drawing reviews, as-built documentation, and field inspections. Assist with utility coordination, permit applications, and right-of-way reviews. Participate in design coordination meetings and contribute to project planning and delivery activities. Support proposal development through preparation of resumes, project descriptions, graphics, and technical content. What Required Skills You'll Bring Education Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Transportation Engineering Technology, Municipal Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering is also considered an asset. Registration / Certifications Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation is preferred, or actively pursuing certification through OACETT. Valid Ontario driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required. Knowledge of road safety principles and transportation engineering practices is considered an asset. Experience 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, roadway design, municipal engineering, or related fields. Experience supporting roadway, traffic signal, intersection, corridor, or transportation planning and design projects. Familiarity with Ontario municipal and provincial transportation design standards. Experience preparing technical drawings, design exhibits, and engineering documentation.
