Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Towing Dispatcher to join our transportation operations team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage the dispatching of tow trucks and roadside assistance services, ensuring swift and efficient response to customer needs. Your proactive communication skills and knowledge of road transportation operations will drive seamless service delivery, enhance customer satisfaction, and optimize fleet utilization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of our logistics network, supporting vehicle recovery and roadside assistance with precision and professionalism. Duties Receive incoming service requests via multi-line phone systems, email, or internal communication channels, ensuring clear and courteous phone etiquette. Utilize vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management to assign tow trucks efficiently based on location, availability, and urgency. Coordinate with drivers, customers, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to schedule pickups, deliveries, or roadside assistance while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Maintain accurate data entry for all dispatch activities, including job details, vehicle status updates, and customer information. Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to track fleet movements in real-time, optimizing routes for timely service delivery. Communicate effectively with team members through internal communication platforms to ensure smooth coordination across departments like shipping & receiving and fleet management. Manage freight-related inquiries and resolve issues related to shipping schedules or vehicle availability promptly. Requirements Proven experience in dispatching within road transportation operations or logistics environments. Strong knowledge of transportation planning, supply chain processes, and fleet management principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) along with experience using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management. Familiarity with GPS, GIS tools, and vehicle tracking technologies to coordinate fleet movements efficiently. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple calls using multi-line phone systems while maintaining high levels of accuracy in data entry. Outstanding communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to handle phone calls professionally while providing exceptional customer service. Knowledge of DOT regulations related to vehicle operation and safety standards for roadside assistance services. Ability to analyze operational data for process improvements and dispatch optimization strategies.
