Tow Truck Driver / Auto Mechanic

Position Summary Precision Towing & Recovery LLC is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and mechanically skilled Tow Truck Driver / Auto Mechanic. This position is responsible for safely operating company tow trucks, providing roadside assistance and vehicle recovery services, and performing automotive diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work. The ideal candidate must demonstrate safe driving habits, mechanical knowledge, professionalism, good customer service, and the ability to work independently while representing the company in a positive manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Tow Truck Operations Safely operate assigned tow trucks and equipment in accordance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations. Respond to towing, roadside assistance, accident recovery, and vehicle transport calls as assigned. Properly load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles. Safely operate winches, wheel lifts, rollback beds, and other towing and recovery equipment. Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report mechanical problems or safety concerns. Maintain accurate records of towing calls, mileage, services performed, and required paperwork. Provide professional customer service and communicate clearly with customers, dispatch, law enforcement, and other parties when necessary. Keep tow trucks, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition. Follow all applicable traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies. Automotive Mechanic Responsibilities Diagnose automotive problems using mechanical knowledge and appropriate diagnostic equipment. Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid services, filter replacements, and scheduled maintenance. Perform brake, suspension, steering, cooling system, and other mechanical repairs within the employee’s qualifications and abilities. Inspect vehicles, identify problems, and communicate repair recommendations to management or customers as authorized. Use shop tools, lifts, diagnostic equipment, and other machinery safely and properly. Complete repairs in a timely and professional manner while maintaining quality workmanship. Maintain accurate repair orders, document work performed, and report additional repairs needed. Keep the shop, work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized. Notify management of needed parts, equipment issues, unsafe conditions, or additional work required. Follow proper procedures for handling fluids, waste materials, and hazardous shop products. General Responsibilities Arrive on time and be prepared to perform assigned duties. Follow all company policies, procedures, and reasonable instructions from management. Maintain a professional attitude and treat customers, coworkers, and the public with respect. Protect company vehicles, equipment, tools, customer vehicles, and other property from damage, loss, or misuse. Report accidents, injuries, vehicle damage, customer complaints, and workplace safety concerns promptly. Perform other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications and Requirements Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicles operated. Driving record acceptable to the company and its insurance carrier. Demonstrated ability to safely operate towing equipment or willingness to complete required training. Automotive repair experience and knowledge of mechanical systems preferred. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic tools. Ability to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow instructions. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and respond to changing job demands. Ability to safely lift, carry, bend, stand, and perform physical duties required for towing and mechanical work, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
