Tow Truck Operator / Driver — Cassopolis, MI Wallace 24 HR Towing, LLC · Commission Pay · 1099 Independent Contractor · 24/7 On-Call Service We run a 24-hour towing operation in Cass County, and we need drivers who can handle the real version of this job — not just the summer version. Read the whole listing before you call. If it still sounds like your kind of work, we want to hear from you! About the Job: Wallace 24 HR Towing is a family-owned towing company based in Cassopolis, Michigan, serving Cass County and the surrounding areas. Our calls come from stranded motorists, breakdowns, and police dispatch rotation — which means accident scenes, odd hours, and work in every kind of weather Michigan has to offer. You'll be trusted with our truck, our customers, and our reputation in a small town where everybody knows everybody. What You'll Do Respond to dispatch calls: tows, winching and recovery, jump starts, and lockouts Operate flatbed/rollback and wheel-lift equipment safely, including on icy roads, highway shoulders, and in low visibility Work accident scenes alongside law enforcement on police rotation calls Deal professionally with vehicle owners who are often stressed, upset, or having the worst day of their week Photograph vehicles, document calls, and process payments. Read This Before You Apply — The Honest Part: Our application asks every applicant to confirm these points in writing, so here they are up front. If any of these is a dealbreaker, this isn't your job — and that's fine. Pay is straight commission. You earn a percentage of each completed call — not an hourly wage. There is no guaranteed minimum. Your income will vary with call volume, season, and weather. Busy weeks pay well; slow weeks don't. If you need a predictable paycheck every week, this is not the position for you. You will be on call. The on-call rotation covers nights, weekends, and holidays. When you're on call, you must be reachable by phone, fit to drive (no alcohol), and able to roll out promptly at any hour — including 3 a.m. Winter is extreme. Winter is our busiest and hardest season. During storms and cold snaps, expect extended shifts (12+ hours), overnight runs, and back-to-back days — outdoors, in subzero wind chills, on snow- and ice-covered roads. When the weather is at its worst, that's when this job works the hardest. The work is physical. Kneeling and crawling under vehicles, hooking chains and straps in freezing temperatures, lifting 50+ lbs, working outside in all weather. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. You're responsible for your own income and self-employment taxes. No health insurance, paid time off, or unemployment benefits are provided. What We're Looking For 18 or older with a valid driver's license and a driving record you're not afraid to show us — we pull every applicant's MVR. Chauffeur's license at minimum or CDL a plus; towing experience a plus, but attitude and reliability matter more, as we train you. Comfortable operating in winter conditions: ice, snow squalls, whiteouts, night driving. Able to stay calm and professional at accident scenes and with upset customers. Reliable smartphone will be provided: (dispatch calls, vehicle photos, payment processing). Must have reliable transportation to the yard at any hour. Living in or near the Cassopolis area — close enough to respond promptly when on call Willing to consent to a background check, a pre-hire drug screen, and random screens after — our drivers are sober on every call, no exceptions How to Apply Call 269-699-5374 to request an application & interview, or stop by to pick one up in person. The application asks you to confirm — in writing — everything listed above, so read this listing again before you fill it out. Answer honestly; we verify.
