Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Tow Service Dispatcher to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage tow truck operations, ensuring prompt and efficient assistance for roadside emergencies, vehicle recoveries, and fleet support. Your proactive communication skills and attention to detail will help maintain seamless road transportation operations, enhance customer satisfaction, and uphold safety standards. Duties Receive incoming calls via multi-line phone systems, providing exceptional customer service while gathering essential information for dispatching tow services. Utilize vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Towbook to assign tow trucks efficiently based on location, availability, and urgency. Coordinate with drivers, fleet management teams, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure timely response to roadside assistance requests. Maintain accurate data entry of all dispatch activities, including detailed logs of freight recovery, vehicle status updates, and incident reports. Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve response times in real-time. Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, and internal teams using clear phone etiquette and professional communication skills while adhering to DOT regulations. Conduct analysis of transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements in road transportation operations and logistics workflows. Requirements Proven experience in dispatching within road transportation operations or logistics environments. Experience with Towbook a plus but not required. Knowledge of GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and vehicle tracking systems to coordinate fleet movements efficiently. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure in a fast-paced setting. Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone call management expertise. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes. Understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations governing vehicle dispatching and freight safety standards. Ability to perform data entry accurately with high typing speed; experience with vehicle dispatch software is preferred. Familiarity with supply chain principles, transportation planning, logistics strategies, and fleet management practices. Strong analysis skills to evaluate operational data for continuous improvement initiatives.
