Tool Shop Assistant- Construction

Position Summary MKE Iron Erectors is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and organized Shop Assistant to support daily operations in our construction equipment and tool shop. This hands-on position involves organizing and maintaining tools and equipment, preparing tools and materials for jobsites, assisting with inventory management, and making deliveries using company delivery vehicles. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Previous construction or shop experience is preferred but not required. Key Responsibilities Organize, maintain, and track company tools, tool request lists, equipment, and materials. Prepare gang boxes, equipment, and supplies for delivery to active jobsites. Load and unload company trucks, trailers, and equipment. Make deliveries and return trips with tools, equipment, and materials using company vehicles. Assist with equipment inspections, cleaning, and basic preventive maintenance. Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with tracking equipment locations. Keep the shop a clean, organized, and safe environment. Identify damaged or missing equipment and report concerns to shop management. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Qualifications Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn inventory tracking systems. Previous experience in a construction shop, warehouse, or similar environment. Familiarity with construction tools and equipment. Experience loading and unloading trucks or trailers. Forklift experience or certification preferred. Work Environment This is a full-time, hands-on position based at our shop in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Responsibilities include working in a shop environment, performing physical tasks, and making occasional trips to active construction jobsites. Candidate will need to be able to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, walking, and other applicable physical activities. Pay: $17.00 - $32.14 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Experience: Tool Shop / Warehouse: 1 year (Preferred) Construction related: 1 year (Preferred) License/Certification: CDL (Preferred) Wisconsin Drivers License (Required) Forklift Certification (Preferred) Location: Waukesha, WI 53186 (Preferred) Shift availability: Day Shift (Required) Work Location: In person
