Peeples IndustriesTERMINAL OPERATOR – SHIFT LEADMAN Wood Pellet Rail Receiving & Marine Terminal Operations Location: Savannah, GA Schedule: 12-Hour Rotating Shifts | Days, Nights, Weekends & Holidays Employment Type: Full-Time JOIN OUR TERMINAL OPERATIONS TEAM We are seeking a Terminal Operator – Shift Leadman to support safe, efficient, and reliable wood pellet receiving, storage, reclaiming, and vessel-loading operations at our marine terminal. This is a working lead position responsible for coordinating shift activities, operating and monitoring terminal equipment, supporting rail and truck receiving operations, and providing day-to-day direction and training to terminal operators. WHAT YOU'LL DO Lead daily shift operations and promote a strong safety-first culture. Coordinate railcar spotting and unloading of bottom-dump hopper cars and truck-dump operations. Operate and monitor PLC-controlled rail pits, conveyors, dust collection, environmental systems, and related equipment. Operate track-mobile rail equipment and heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, after required training. Monitor incoming wood pellets for temperature, moisture, and product-quality requirements. Safely transfer and store product in designated dome silos. Support product reclaiming and outbound vessel-loading operations. Train and assist operators in safe equipment operation and terminal procedures. Operate and monitor ship-loading equipment after qualification. Communicate effectively with railroad personnel, vessel personnel, contractors, coworkers, and management. Complete shift reports, inspections, equipment logs, and required operational documentation. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly terminal environment. Identify and report equipment, safety, environmental, and product-quality concerns. Support troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and operational continuity. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR High school diploma or equivalent. Previous heavy equipment experience, preferably front-end loader experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn industrial equipment and PLC control systems. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to train and work effectively with other employees. Previous marine terminal, bulk-material handling, railroad, industrial, or vessel-loading experience is preferred. Previous lead or supervisory experience is a plus. REQUIRED TO WORK AT OUR TERMINAL Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) . Successful completion of required pre-employment drug screening, background check, and physical/medical evaluation. Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule , including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and elevated structures frequently. Ability to work at heights exceeding 100 feet. Ability to work in confined or restricted areas when properly trained and authorized. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work safely around railcars, trucks, conveyors, mobile equipment, industrial machinery, dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions. Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety and operating procedures. WHY JOIN US?
