Luis Ayala ColonPOSITION TITLE: TERMINAL OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR – Reefer Control Area DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS LAST UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2026 FLSA JOB STATUS: EXEMPT POSITION SUMMARY: The Terminal Operations Supervisor (TOS) – Reefer Control Area is responsible for overseeing the daily workflow, logistics, personnel, and operational activities within the Reefer Control Area. The position ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, labor agreements, and customer service expectations. The TOS-RCA provides direct supervision and operational leadership to ensure that reefer activities are properly coordinated, equipment is maintained in operational condition, service requirements are completed timely, and established production and safety objectives are achieved. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OR RESPONSIBILITIES: This role may be responsible for a variety of the following areas, and the daily duties may include: Terminal Operations / General Responsibilities: Provide direct supervision and leadership to employees assigned to the Reefer Control Area. Supervise daily labor and administrative activities associated with assigned terminal operations. Ensure safe and efficient execution of all assigned operational activities. Ensure compliance with LAC safety standards, policies, and procedures in coordination with on-site HSSE personnel. Promote a preventive safety culture through proper Near Miss reporting, hazard identification, and timely corrective actions. Maintain personal accountability for workplace safety and promote the same level of responsibility among employees and contractors. Ensure compliance with all organizational security rules, procedures, and operational controls. Monitor the performance of union employees and initiate or recommend disciplinary action when required and in accordance with applicable labor agreements and company policies. Read, understand, and properly apply applicable labor contracts and agreements to maximize labor efficiency and operational productivity. Supervise personnel directly and make timely operational decisions in a fast-paced environment. Coordinate special operational requirements with other departments and customers as necessary. Coordinate with appropriate departments in the investigation of accidents, incidents, equipment damage, and operational irregularities, including identification of root causes and implementation of corrective measures. Maintain familiarity with and enforce applicable safe working practices and operational standards. Provide leadership and promote cooperation among employees, contractors, management, and other departments to achieve operational objectives through a teamwork approach. Support operations in achieving established objectives related to productivity, efficiency, safety, service quality, and resource utilization. Monitor operational performance and ensure daily activities contribute to established production and service targets. Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing operational conditions, priorities, and schedules. Work effectively under pressure, anticipate potential operational problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement timely solutions to minimize service interruptions, damages, and claims. Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and actively identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Maintain effective communication with management, employees, customers, and other departments. Perform other related duties and assignments as directed by the Terminal/Reefer Manager or Operations Director.
