Role Description The Technical Buyer – Electric Motors is a full-time, on-site role based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing electric motors and related components that meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. Day-to-day tasks include managing purchase orders, coordinating with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. The Technical Buyer negotiates pricing and contract terms, monitors supplier performance, and ensures on-time delivery to support ongoing manufacturing and project needs. The role also involves continuous improvement of purchasing processes, cost optimization, and risk mitigation in the supply chain for electric motors. Qualifications Demonstrated ability in purchasing processes, including creating and managing purchase orders and coordinating with internal stakeholders. Experience with purchasing negotiation and contract negotiation to secure favorable pricing, delivery terms, and service conditions. Skills in supplier evaluation and vendor management, including assessing technical capability, reliability, and compliance with quality standards. Background in technical buying for electric motors or electromechanical components, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and performance requirements. Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with engineering, production, finance, and external suppliers. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and standard office productivity software. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or fluid handling systems is beneficial.
