Scope of position: The Technical Buyer position is charged with responsibility for the timely, cost-effective procurement of materials, goods, and services to support execution of the Master Production Schedule within an industrial fast-paced project-based environment. This role also supports strategic sourcing and resourcing initiatives, including identifying alternate suppliers, evaluating cost reduction opportunities, and supporting supply chain risk mitigation to improve supplier performance, pricing, and lead times. Candidates with strong industrial supply chain experience will be given preference. Support resourcing and supplier transition projects, including identifying and qualifying alternate suppliers Assist with supplier evaluations, RFQs, and total cost analysis for new and existing components Work with engineering and operations to support supplier changes, cost improvements, and supply continuity Negotiate price and delivery of goods Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and lead time data within the ERP system Prepare and expedite purchase orders Initiate return goods authorizations, along with follow up processing Liaise with suppliers to obtain mill test reports, test certificates and other required documentation RFQ’s, interviewing, and research of suppliers and commodities; and the presentation and review of quotations with the Purchasing Manager or Supervisor Purchasing raw materials, goods, services and finished products or business services based on specifications and production requirements of the organization Adhere to ISO policies, procedures and documentation Undertake other duties / tasks as directed Assist and provide input into the continuous improvement of processes Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to support inbound shipments, supplier documentation, and delivery performance Provides standard costing requirements for Sales and Marketing upon request and assists in the establishment of standard costs in general Skills: 3–5 years of purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment Experience sourcing machined components, fabricated parts, mechanical assemblies, or industrial equipment is strongly preferred Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Engineering Technology, Mechanical/Industrial disciplines, or Business Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate cost, lead time, and supplier capability Ability to perform function with a sense of purpose and high degree of urgency Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with engineering, operations, and supplier Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year Benefits: Extended health care Application question(s): Do you have purchasing or sourcing experience within a manufacturing or engineered equipment environment?
