Switcher Driver (Yard Driver)

Yard Jockey (Switcher Truck Driver) Compton, CA 90221 Pay: $22 an hour Full-time I On-site Schedule: Sunday through Thursday (8pm-5am) The Yard Jockey (Switcher Truck Driver) is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers and containers within the warehouse yard. The role operates a yard truck/yard goat to spot trailers at dock doors, staging areas, and parking lots to support inbound and outbound operations. Key Responsibilities: Operate a yard goat/switcher truck to move trailers and containers around the facility Spot and reposition trailers to assigned dock doors for loading and unloading Communicate with warehouse staff, shipping/receiving teams, and dispatchers Perform basic inspections of equipment (fuel, fluids, lights, tires, safety checks) Maintain trailer yard organization and proper staging of equipment Track trailer locations and record moves using yard logs Remove/apply hazardous placards as needed (on containers) Follow safety protocols, speed limits, and all site procedures Qualifications: Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required). Experience operating a yard goat, switcher, or tractor-trailer mandatory Ability to maneuver trailers safely in tight spaces Basic communication, recordkeeping, and time management skills Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather Work Environment: Outdoor work in yard/warehouse areas (driving/moving & staging containers) Shift schedules may require flexibility to meet business needs (overtime, earlier/later start times) Benefits: 401(k) no employer match Paid time off Ability to Commute: Compton, CA 90221 (Required) Work Location: In person
