As a Buyer you will be part of the Purchasing team that falls under Supply Management. The Purchasing team plays a critical role in supporting Irving Oil’s operations across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. This team is responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services for nearly all business areas, with the exception of turnaround-related items and long-lead project procurement.
Located at the Irving Oil Home Office in Saint John, the Purchasing team is composed of specialized buyers, each managing their own procurement category. As a student, your role will focus specifically on inventory purchasing, giving you the opportunity to work independently and take ownership of your tasks. Rather than supporting a specific buyer, you will contribute directly to the team’s success by managing inventory-related procurement activities, gaining exposure to systems, processes, and supplier interactions that are foundational to a career in supply chain and procurement.
Responsibilities:
Manage inventory-related procurement tasks, including issuing purchase orders and tracking deliveries for Irving Energy
Handle requests for quotes, work within Oracle to process requisitions and purchase orders, and ensure supplier payments are completed
Follow up on estimated time of arrival (ETA) for goods, confirm delivery promises, and manage documentation through Inspyrus
Your Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with systems like Oracle and Inspyrus is an asset
Strong written and verbal communication
Excellent attention to detail
Proactive approach to problem-solving
Your Experience:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Business Administration program with an interest in Supply Management
Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school
