Supply Chain Planner - Production & Materials

Engelman’s Bakery is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical Entry-Level Supply Chain Planner to support production planning, materials management, inventory control, and purchasing activities at our Norcross, Georgia bakery. Reporting to the VP of Operations or designated Supply Chain Manager, this position will work closely with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and suppliers to help ensure that production schedules are maintained, materials are available when needed, and customer orders are fulfilled on time. The Entry-Level Supply Chain Planner will receive guidance and training while developing the skills needed to manage production schedules, monitor inventory, coordinate purchasing activities, and identify potential supply chain issues. As experience and proficiency increase, the employee will be given additional responsibilities and opportunities for professional growth. Engelman’s Bakery operates on a six-day production schedule. This position requires flexibility to support production planning and operational needs, which may occasionally include early mornings, weekends, or work outside traditional business hours. During the initial training and development period, the employee will learn the production scheduling process and expectations for communicating schedule updates. Any applicable work schedule and overtime requirements will be communicated by management. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Production Planning and Scheduling - Assist with preparing and maintaining daily and weekly production schedules based on customer demand and operational requirements. - Review customer orders, inventory levels, and production requirements to help determine product and material needs. - Communicate schedule updates and changes to the appropriate departments. - Help identify scheduling conflicts, production constraints, and potential delays. - Work with Operations to understand production capacity, priorities, and scheduling requirements. - Maintain accurate production planning records and reports. 2. Materials and Inventory Management - Monitor inventory levels for ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods. - Assist in identifying materials that may need to be reordered. - Help maintain accurate inventory records through system updates, physical counts, and cycle counts. - Investigate inventory discrepancies and communicate findings to the appropriate personnel. - Follow established inventory rotation procedures, including FIFO (First In, First Out), where applicable. - Support efforts to reduce material shortages, excess inventory, and product waste. 3. Purchasing and Supplier Coordination - Assist with preparing and tracking purchase orders for ingredients, packaging, and other production materials. - Monitor order confirmations, expected delivery dates, and outstanding purchase orders. - Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, and routine purchasing questions. - Notify management of potential supplier delays, material shortages, or delivery issues. - Verify purchasing information and receiving records for accuracy. - Support supplier performance tracking and purchasing documentation. 4.
