Role Overview

The Supply Chain Manager at Spearhead leads the procurement function while establishing foundational quality control processes across the organization. This management role combines strategic procurement leadership with hands-on operational oversight to ensure the timely, cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and services necessary for Spearhead's projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.


The Supply Chain Manager will manage a team of Procurement Specialists while developing and implementing comprehensive quality control frameworks that align with Spearhead's commitment to technical excellence and craft mastery. This position serves as the primary liaison between procurement operations and cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless coordination of material requirements, budget adherence, and quality standards.


The role demands a strategic leader who can translate high-level business objectives into actionable procurement strategies while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the procurement team. Additionally, this position will develop Spearhead's quality control initiatives, establishing processes and guidance which will transition to the incoming QC Manager.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Procurement Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage a team of 2 Procurement Specialists, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to drive team success and professional development
  • Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with Spearhead's business objectives and the Strategic Partnerships Director's vendor management initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships Director to optimize procurement processes, leverage strategic vendor relationships, and drive cost reduction opportunities
  • Oversee the preparation and management of invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
  • Monitor team performance against budget targets and project deadlines, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Establish logistics coordination for delivery schedules, monitor progress, and resolve supplier issues to prevent project disruptions
  • Manage and optimize the implementation of supply chain software systems, standard operating procedures, and training programs to ensure seamless integration across operations while continuously evaluating and adapting these tools to meet evolving business requirements and optimize supply chain performance

Strategic Procurement Operations

  • Leverage Spearhead's buying power to optimize costs, access new suppliers, reduce lead times, and guarantee supply to meet rigid project deadlines
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships Director to develop and maintain vendor relationships that support both tactical procurement needs and strategic business objectives
  • Work closely with Project Leaders to schedule and track spending against project budgets, providing regular reporting and analysis
  • Identify high-impact cost reduction opportunities and implement process improvements across the procurement function
  • Collaborate with Finance team to meet budget targets and ensure timely reconciliation of purchases
  • Oversee Spearhead's stock inventory program, implementing best practices for inventory management and control

Quality Control Development & Implementation

  • Develop and implement framework for comprehensive quality control processes and guidance in alignment with company goals
  • Establish quality standards and metrics that align with Spearhead's core competencies of Technical Excellence & Craft Mastery
  • Create quality control frameworks for material specifications, vendor performance, and project deliverables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand quality requirements and translate them into actionable processes and procedures
  • Develop training materials and conduct quality control workshops for teams across Spearhead
  • Monitor and measure quality performance, providing regular reporting to leadership on quality metrics and improvement initiatives

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand material requirements and specifications while ensuring quality standards are maintained
  • Work closely with the Strategic Partnerships Director to align procurement activities with strategic vendor management and business development initiatives
  • Partner with Project Leaders to ensure procurement activities support project timelines and quality objectives
  • Coordinate with Finance, Operations, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of procurement and quality control processes

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain management, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of management experience with direct reports and team leadership responsibilities
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing quality control processes and procedures
  • Experience with procurement and accounting software systems, preferably with ERP implementation and management
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to operational details
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across all organizational levels
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality excellence
  • Experience with budget management, cost analysis, and financial reporting


Schedule and Working Conditions

  • Ability to work 8:30-5:00, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day
  • Ability to work on-site at Spearhead offices with occasional travel to industry functions and vendor locations
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basis
  • Ability to work sitting or standing at a desk for work shifts
  • Occasional lifting and moving of supplies up to 30 pounds


Compensation

  • Pay range estimate is $90-$115K based on experience and qualifications
