Karma is a member-owned natural food store in Toronto's Annex neighbourhood. For over 50 years, we've been connecting our community with local, organic, sustainable, and ethically sourced food. About The Role We're looking for someone who can take ownership of a purchasing portfolio while helping lead the day-to-day operations of our store. Purchasing is at the heart of this role. You'll build relationships with suppliers, select and source products, manage inventory, and help ensure our shelves are stocked with great products at competitive prices. You'll also have opportunities to improve our purchasing processes, introduce new products, and contribute ideas that strengthen the co-op. As a Floor Supervisor, you'll work alongside a collaborative team, providing direction and support to Retail Associates, coordinating daily priorities, and helping create a welcoming, well-organized shopping experience. This is a hands-on role where you'll need to balance planned purchasing work with the changing, sometimes unexpected needs of a busy retail store. Your Responsibilities Will Include Managing product ordering, inventory, supplier relationships, pricing, and product selection in accordance with Karma's product policy. Researching new suppliers and products, responding to member requests, and identifying opportunities to improve our offerings. Coordinating deliveries, receiving, inventory records, returns, and supplier credits. Planning promotions, maintaining accurate shelf signage, and creating engaging merchandise displays. Supporting daily store operations, setting priorities, delegating tasks, and helping train and guide staff. Working with staff and member volunteers to keep the store running smoothly and serving our community. What We're Looking For We're Interested In People Who Bring Strong organizational skills, initiative, and attention to detail. Excellent communication and a collaborative approach to leadership. Confidence balancing multiple priorities and solving problems independently. Experience in purchasing, retail, inventory management, or other relevant transferable skills. An interest in food systems, sustainability, and co-operative values. Position Details Schedule: Five shifts per week, with evening and weekend availability required. Compensation: $22.00/hour Location: Karma Co-op, Toronto (in person). Union: CUPE Local 1281 Start date: As soon as possible.
