FortisAlberta is seeking a strategic and collaborative Supervisor, Inventory & Materials Management to lead our province‑wide inventory and materials management function!
In this role, you will help ensure the right materials are available at the right time to support reliable service for our customers while optimizing inventory investment and strengthening supply chain resiliency. Leading a team of inventory professionals, you will partner with stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Finance, Warehousing, and Procurement to drive continuous improvement, enhance data integrity, and support key modernization initiatives.

Job Description:
- Lead, develop, and support the Inventory Management team by providing coaching, performance management, and guidance to foster a high‑performing and engaged workforce.
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies that balance operational readiness, service levels, working capital, and total cost of ownership.
- Lead inventory optimization initiatives, including critical spare management, surplus reduction, inventory recovery programs, and stocking strategies.
- Ensure compliance with inventory governance standards, internal controls, accounting requirements, corporate policies, and safety procedures.
- Monitor inventory performance, material availability, supply risks, and market conditions to proactively address potential operational impacts.
- Partner with business stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, Warehousing, Finance, and Procurement to align inventory activities with business needs.
- Oversee inventory data integrity, reporting, analytics, and performance metrics to support informed decision‑making and continuous improvement.
- Support supply chain resiliency and emergency preparedness by developing inventory continuity plans and mitigating material supply risks.
- Lead process improvement and modernization initiatives, including support for enterprise resource planning transformation and materials management enhancements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams to support sourcing activities, supplier performance management, and long‑term material availability.
Qualifications:
- Degree, diploma, or certification in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of seven years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, procurement, warehousing, logistics, utility operations, or a related field.
- Experience working with enterprise resource planning systems and inventory management processes, preferably SAP as well as materials planning, supply chain operations, inventory optimization, working capital management, and supply chain resiliency practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving process improvement in a complex operational environment.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills; previous supervisory or people leadership experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and change management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes, present recommendations to diverse audiences, and support business transformation initiatives.
- Professional supply chain designations such as Supply Chain Management Professional, National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders, or equivalent are considered assets.
Important:
- Permanent, full-time role.
- Monday – Friday schedule.
- Hybrid role, with opportunity to work 2 days per week from home.
- Based out of our Airdrie location.
- Occasional travel would be required for the role (~10%).
