Supermarket Stock Clerk

NAME OF ENTERPRISE: Pueblo of Pojoaque Corporate JOB LOCATION: Pojoaque Supermarket REPORTS TO: Assistant Manager and Manager DEPARTMENT: Pojoaque Supermarket FLSA STATUS: Hourly, non-exempt; Full- or part-time TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE (DAYS/HRS PER WEEK): Any of the 5 days from Sunday through Saturday with work start times as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 12 noon JOB PURPOSE: Stock all grocery items, including liquor, frozen foods, and dairy products, and provide customer service ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Unpacks cartons and crates of merchandise, checks invoice against items received; May be required to compute gross margins on product in supervisor’s absence Assists with conducting inventory and ordering merchandise Sets up advertising signs and prices merchandise Stocks shelves with new or transferred merchandise Cleans display cases, shelves, and aisles May perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES): Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities; Must be people oriented Basic math skills REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 16 years old If still in high school, must maintain average passing grades No experience required; willing to train PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Grocery store setting; Shift work; Required to work weekends and holidays Standing/Walking/Bending, 100%; May stand or walk up to 4 hours at a time Lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. with help or uses dolly as needed May have to work in walk-in refrigerator for extended periods Exposure to cleaning chemicals and cold temperatures Must follow safety precautions and requirements DISCLAIMER STATEMENT: This job description lists the major duties and responsibilities required of the employee.
