Structural Steel Purchasing Manager

Job description: Structural Steel Fabricator is hiring a Purchaser of Steel Overview Our company, located in Birmingham, AL is a structural steel fabricator working for large Commercial General Contractors throughout the Southeastern United States. What We’re Looking For Must be familiar with and experienced in structural steel shapes. (e.g. W shapes, channel, angle, plate, pipe, HSS, etc.) Must know abbreviations for steel shapes: W shapes C L PL PS HSS Pipe Strengths Schedule 40 Schedule 80 Schedule 120 Must be knowledgeable as to looking up the weight per foot of the above shapes Must keep with the Steel Miil rolling schedules Must keep aware with Mill Pricing and Service Center Pricing Must know Bolts and grades (A325 and A490) and TC bolts Must be able to read shop drawings and bill of materials Must be experienced in sending out material list for pricing and availability to procure in time to make the fabrication ship dates Must be familiar what studs are Must have experience purchasing structural shapes and other steel from service centers Must have experience writing purchase orders containing job information for traceability Schedule & Locations Full-time. Birmingham, AL location. Mon – Fri: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Pay & Growth Pay based on skill and experience. Profit Sharing Participation Incentive pay based on superior performance.
