Burden Sales Company is looking for an experienced sourcing and purchasing professional to lead our purchasing function and help shape how we approach sourcing, inventory planning, supplier relationships, forecasting, and purchasing analytics. This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply to maintain an established purchasing process. The Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing Manager will have the opportunity to evaluate current practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and help build a more strategic, data-driven approach to purchasing and inventory management. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this position will have meaningful visibility and influence across the organization. What You'll Do Lead the company's purchasing and strategic sourcing activities. Develop and execute purchasing strategies that support inventory availability, service levels, and company financial goals. Analyze sales history, demand trends, inventory levels, lead times, and other data to improve purchasing and forecasting decisions. Strengthen forecasting and inventory planning processes. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships. Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, freight considerations, and other supplier agreements. Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation, alternate sourcing, and improved purchasing terms. Evaluate supplier performance and address quality, delivery, pricing, and service concerns. Partner with Sales, Product Support, Fulfillment, Finance, and company leadership to understand inventory needs and business priorities. Use ERP data, Excel, reporting tools, and analytics to identify trends and support purchasing decisions. Develop meaningful purchasing and supplier performance metrics. Identify and implement process improvements within the purchasing function. Help establish scalable purchasing practices as the company continues to evolve. What We're Looking For We're interested in candidates who understand both the numbers and the relationships behind successful purchasing. Strong candidates will bring experience in areas such as: Purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or inventory management Demand planning, forecasting, and inventory analysis Supplier negotiations and vendor relationship management ERP systems and purchasing data Microsoft Excel and data analysis Cost analysis and purchasing strategy Process improvement Cross-functional communication and collaboration Previous management experience is valuable, but we are also interested in experienced Senior Buyers, Strategic Buyers, Commodity Managers, Category Managers, and Sourcing professionals who are ready to take the next step into broader leadership and ownership of a purchasing function. Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, hydraulics, mechanical components, electrical components, or a related environment is required. Why Burden Sales Company?
