Duties Perform sterilization, decontamination, and reprocessing of surgical instruments, following strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Assemble, inspect, package, and label sterile medical instruments to ensure readiness for surgical procedures. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical equipment, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment. Operate specialized sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, and washer-disinfectors. Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance documentation in compliance with healthcare standards. Adhere to all infection prevention policies by implementing proper handling procedures for contaminated instruments and maintaining a sterile environment. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper instrument handling during surgeries and assist with endoscope reprocessing as needed. Skills Proven experience in sterile processing of medical instruments, including assembly, packaging, and sterilization techniques. Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to understand instrument functions and appropriate handling procedures. Familiarity with infection prevention management practices within a healthcare setting. Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to strict protocols. Excellent understanding of medical terminology related to surgical instruments and procedures. Skilled in inventory management systems for tracking supplies and ensuring availability of sterile items. Knowledge of healthcare infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and surgical instrument sterilization best practices.
