Strategic Category Manager Location: Dallas, TX | Onsite Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time Compensation: Competitive base salary + 12.5% target annual bonus based on company performance If you know how to turn spend data, market intelligence, and business needs into a sourcing strategy-and then take that strategy through RFP/RFQ, negotiation, supplier selection, and measurable savings-this role offers the opportunity to do exactly that. CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Strategic Category Manager for a well-established organization in Dallas, TX. This position will manage indirect spend categories, develop and execute sourcing strategies, lead competitive sourcing initiatives, negotiate supplier agreements, and partner with key business stakeholders to improve cost, supplier performance, and overall procurement effectiveness. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management professional who enjoys owning sourcing initiatives from strategy through execution. Responsibilities Develop and execute category-specific sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals and business needs. Lead RFP and RFQ processes, including supplier identification, evaluation, negotiation, selection, and award. Manage supplier relationships and evaluate performance, pricing, service levels, capabilities, and overall value. Negotiate contracts, commercial terms, and pricing with suppliers. Conduct market and supplier research to identify sourcing opportunities, pricing trends, and potential risks. Analyze spend and identify cost-saving, cost-avoidance, and process improvement opportunities. Evaluate economic factors such as inflation, tariffs, and market shifts and their potential impact on pricing and budgets. Partner with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and develop sourcing solutions. Track and report procurement KPIs, including cost savings and supplier performance. Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies and applicable requirements. Maintain accurate sourcing, supplier, purchasing, and contract documentation. Address supplier performance issues and commercial disputes while maintaining productive supplier relationships. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. 4+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or related experience. Experience developing and executing sourcing or category strategies. Hands-on experience leading RFP and/or RFQ processes. Strong experience with supplier negotiations, pricing, contracts, and vendor management. Experience analyzing spend, supplier performance, market conditions, and cost-saving opportunities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience partnering with cross-functional business stakeholders. Working knowledge of procurement or purchasing systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms. Intermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and relationship-management skills. Master's degree and/or professional procurement certification such as CPSM or CPM is preferred.
