Job Overview: The Sr. NPI (New Product Introduction) Buyer plays a key role in supporting new product development and launch activities by sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials required for engineering builds and pilot runs. This role acts as a vital link between Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, and suppliers—ensuring materials are procured on time, within budget, and meet required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sourcing & Procurement

  • Identify and qualify suppliers for new product components.
  • Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and evaluate proposals.
  • Create and manage purchase orders to support NPI builds and pilot runs.

2. Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier-related issues.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to understand material requirements.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to support early builds and production ramp-up.
  • Support smooth handoff from development to production teams.

4. Negotiation & Cost Management

  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with finance and planning teams to align procurement budgets.

5. Issue Resolution & Risk Management

  • Address supplier-related problems such as delays, quality defects, or invoice discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement corrective and recovery plans as needed.

6. Data & Documentation Management

  • Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data in ERP systems.
  • Track lead times, costs, and supplier performance metrics.

Qualifications

  1. Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
  2. Minimum 7 years of material planning experience within a PCBA manufacturing environment
  3. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  4. Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  5. Ability to work effectively within cross-functional project teams.
  6. Familiarity with NPI processes, RFQs, and product development timelines.
  7. Knowledge of supply chain logistics, production scheduling, and inventory control.
  8. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
