The Role You will own logistics and fulfillment end to end, from the moment finished goods leave our co-manufacturer to the moment they land with a retailer, a distributor, or a customer. We are a lean team, so you are monitoring and maintaining inventory at UNFI DC’s in the morning, coordinating Costco freight at lunch, and reviewing inventory levels proactively in the late afternoon. As the function matures, you will hire and manage a coordinator to take the recurring work off your plate. You report to the COO and partner daily with our Director of Supply Chain (who owns ingredients, co-manufacturers, and production planning), our Demand Planner, Sales, and Growth. You own your function. You do not wait to be told what to do. What You'll Own Freight and transportation Carrier strategy, rate negotiation, and routing compliance across LTL, FTL, and parcel Freight audit and rate compliance, so we stop paying for things we did not agree to Logistics chargebacks and issues from root cause through dispute to closure Clear visibility into freight cost by channel and by lane, and a plan to bring it down 3PL network and inventory Our 3PL relationships, with real KPIs, enforced SLAs, and regular scorecards Allocation of finished goods across warehouses to optimize turn, freight cost, and fill rate Inventory visibility across our co-man, 3PL, UNFI and KeHE warehouses, Amazon FBA, and retailer DCs Reorder triggers and min/max thresholds by location, plus early flags on stockout risk and best-by dates to Sales and Marketing Weekly distributor inventory reviews with Sales to protect fill rate and revenue Kitting, TikTok Shop packs, and ad hoc packaging projects Retail, Amazon, and DTC fulfillment Wholesale fulfillment and EDI order management through Cristl UNFI and KeHE order accuracy, on-time shipping, and deduction resolution Compliance with retailer routing guides, labeling, and packaging requirements Amazon FBA inventory: send-in plans, replenishment, stranded inventory, storage limits, and IPI Inventory positioning with Growth ahead of Prime Day, promotions, and new retailer launches Managing MCF with Amazon Systems and reporting SOPs that let the function run on process instead of memory Updating and managing inventory in Cin7 The metrics that matter (OTIF, fill rate, freight cost per unit, inventory turn, chargeback rate), and the improvement projects that come out of them Evaluation and implementation of new logistics systems, including ERP, WMS, and TMS Inventory valuation, COGS inputs, and working capital, in partnership with Finance Who You Are Proactive, not reactive. You see the stockout coming. You surface issues early with options attached, and you are constantly thinking about how to build a process and SOP’s to make things more efficient. Obsessively detail-oriented. A number that looks off gets investigated, not ignored. Your data is clean and current across every system. You don’t let an email go unanswered. Nothing gets past you and you’re not afraid to flag an issue (both current and future). Commercially minded. You understand how a logistics decision shows up in revenue, and you can explain a tradeoff to a Sales lead in language they care about. Comfortable in a startup. You have owned a function with no playbook handed to you, and that is the kind of job you are looking for.
