POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Sr. Graphics Designer and Creative Operations Lead at LJA Public Engagement Division, you will be responsible for crafting visually compelling designs for community outreach and public involvement campaigns with branding and communication materials for print, digital and web while mentoring junior team members and managing design work. You'll collaborate with client service teams to conceptualize and deliver designs that will reach and educate a wide audience. We are looking for a strategic thinker who can move fluidly between projects and clients, understanding how individual deliverables contribute to larger campaigns and evolving client goals. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying design, marketing, or other creative contracts for which the Division can apply.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Create and maintain visual assets for print and digital, including advertisements, brochures, presentations, event materials, and infographics of several different client brand standards.
- Competence in designing and maintaining user-friendly websites and landing pages on platforms like Wix and SquareSpace.
- Translate and simplify technical planning exhibits into reader-friendly infographics, diagrams, maps, and other visual renderings.
- Take ownership of design projects, managing them from concept to final delivery with quality and consistency, including delegating work to production assistant/junior designer and freelance/contract help
- Manage professional printing orders and ensuring print quality, as well as screen and partner with vendors for special projects i.e. photography and video shoots, livestream web event production, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan project design approach and forecast production timelines and budgets.
- Mentor production assistant/junior designer by providing constructive feedback, fostering creativity, and sharing expertise, with the potential to help shape and grow the team as needs evolve.
- Recommend enhancements to design processes, tools, and materials for continuous improvement.
- Work directly with Senior Leadership on high-visibility or controversial client projects
- Work directly with Senior Leadership on creative operations and strategy
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field from an accredited institution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of professional design experience, preferably in corporate or agency environments.
- Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in digital, print, and web design, emphasizing branding and conceptual thinking.
- Demonstrated understanding of accessibility considerations in visual design.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
- Competence in designing and maintaining user-friendly websites and landing pages on platforms like Wix and SquareSpace.
- Deep understanding of branding, typography, color theory, and layout principles.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills to articulate ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to see how deliverables interconnect and align with broader project goals.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
