Overview The Sprinter Van Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and on-time pickup and delivery of customer freight throughout the GTA. This is a hands-on role that combines driving, loading and unloading, and customer interaction. The ideal candidate has a clean driving record, knows the GTA well, and takes pride in providing professional, dependable service. Responsibilities Safely operate a company-provided Sprinter van throughout the GTA and surrounding areas. Complete daily multi-stop pickup and delivery routes on schedule, including same-day, scheduled, and rush deliveries. Load, secure, and unload freight by hand or with a hand truck — packages may range from small parcels to skids up to approximately 50 lbs (occasionally heavier with assistance). Verify shipment counts, condition, paperwork, and bills of lading (BOL) at each pickup and delivery; obtain proof of delivery (POD) signatures. Use a handheld scanner, mobile dispatch app, or onboard tablet to update shipment status in real time. Communicate professionally with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers; report delays, damages, or service issues immediately. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA) requirements; document defects on a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). Maintain accurate driver logs and hours-of-service records as required. Keep the assigned vehicle clean, fuelled, and in good working order; report any maintenance needs promptly. Adhere to all federal, provincial, and municipal traffic laws, company safety policies, and customer site requirements (PPE, dock procedures, etc.). Assist with warehouse duties (loading, sorting, light pick-and-pack) between routes when required. Qualifications Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence in good standing Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable commercial or courier driving experience, preferably in the GTA. Clean Driver's Abstract (3-year) — must be provided at the time of interview or hire. Clean CVOR (Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration) abstract if previously employed under one. Strong working knowledge of GTA roadways, including the 400-series highways (401, 400, 404, 427, QEW, DVP, Gardiner) and major arterials. Ability to use GPS navigation, smartphones, and electronic delivery/scanning apps. Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift; comfortable with frequent entering and exiting of the vehicle. Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal. Professional appearance and customer-service-oriented attitude. Preferred Qualifications (Assets) Previous experience with a 3PL, courier, or last-mile delivery company. Forklift, walkie, or pallet jack certification. Familiarity with appointment-based deliveries to retail DCs Working Conditions Shifts typically Monday to Friday Average 8–10 hours per shift Year-round driving, including in winter weather conditions typical to Southern Ontario. Combination of warehouse, dock, and on-road work; frequent loading and unloading at customer sites.
