Baileys Produce and NurseryDate Posted: October 2, 2026 Pay: $48,000.00 – $52,000.00 per year Job Type: Full-time Work Location: In person Position Summary The Specialty Goods Manager oversees the team responsible for receiving, backroom operations, stocking, inventory management, purchasing, and merchandising within a specialty goods environment. This position plays a significant role in procurement, vendor management, inventory control, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers, and has excellent Excel skills. This individual should be able to analyze sales and inventory data, build and maintain spreadsheets, track purchasing and inventory trends, and use data to make informed business decisions. The Specialty Grocery Manager is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate receiving, maintaining product freshness and quality, managing inventory levels, supporting an engaging shopping experience, and leading a team in a fast-paced retail environment. Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Staff Oversight Supervise receiving clerks, stockers, and merchandising associates across specialty grocery departments. Train team members on proper handling of delicate and perishable products, rotation standards, and product-care procedures. Conduct regular performance check-ins, coach employees for improvement, and promote a culture focused on quality, efficiency, and customer service. Ensure all staff follow safety, sanitation, and equipment-use procedures. Hold team members accountable for department standards, productivity, cleanliness, and accuracy. Scheduling & Labor Management Create and manage weekly staff schedules based on delivery frequency, department needs, perishability, and anticipated customer traffic. Adjust labor to support early-morning deliveries, refrigerated loads, and peak restocking periods. Monitor staffing levels and make adjustments to ensure efficient department coverage. Receiving & Product Quality Control Oversee specialty grocery receiving processes, including delivery check-in, temperature checks, freshness assessments, and verification of invoices and labels. Ensure receiving records are accurate and discrepancies are documented and communicated promptly. Maintain organized and clean receiving and storage areas, including walk-ins, freezers, dry storage, and prep areas. Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of perishable products to maintain food safety and quality. Work with vendors to resolve shortages, damages, pricing discrepancies, and quality concerns. Stocking & Inventory Management Ensure shelves and specialty displays are consistently stocked, faced, and rotated according to FIFO and quality standards. Monitor freshness, shrink, waste, and product pull processes. Oversee replenishment of high-turning specialty items, local products, and seasonal assortments. Identify and troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, out-of-stocks, and product availability issues. Maintain accurate inventory counts and work with department leaders to improve inventory accuracy. Monitor inventory turns and identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and product loss. Excel, Reporting & Data Analysis Maintain and utilize Excel spreadsheets for purchasing, inventory, sales, vendor, and financial tracking. Analyze sales and inventory data to identify trends, purchasing opportunities, slow-moving products, and potential out-of-stocks. Create and maintain reports used to monitor inventory levels, product movement, purchasing, and margins. Use formulas, sorting, filtering, pivot tables, and other Excel functions to organize and analyze information. Accurately enter, maintain, and interpret large amounts of data. Use data to support purchasing decisions and improve inventory management. Provide management with accurate reports and information when requested.
