Overview
Reporting directly to the Senior Customs Compliance and Operations Manager, the Canada Customs Operations Specialist will be an integral part of the customs Operations team. Working in close collaboration with all supporting departments and channels while ensuring the seamless rollout of cross-functional processes. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, have a strong desire to learn, be curious, and strive for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Monitors and troubleshoots day-to-day operations by communicating with Customs Broker and carriers.
Reports on broker performance and recommends actionable improvements when necessary.
Proposes new procedures for increasing the efficiency of day-to-day operations within the ALDO cross functional team when necessary.
Responsible to confirm all imported PO’s have been declared to CBSA
Responsible of auditing of the monthly B3’s
Responsible to record adjustments in the Canada Ledger.
Responsible to submit and follow up on the status of the adjustments.
Develop, analyze, implement, and publish Broker performance KPIs.
Responsible to maintain the document retention archives in accordance with the record keeping act.
Works cross functionally with the finance team to document, investigate and resolve duty variances between the accruals and the duty paid for CA
Prepares and shares the import Database to Canadian Customs Broker.
Prepares cross-border documents and shared them with the Carrier and Customs Broker
Responsible to log all cross-border shipments in the Cross-Border Ledger
Manages Customs related payments of brokers, carriers’ invoices, and penalties.
Processes Cross Border Drawbacks (including preparing the export data based, import data base)
Requirements
College or bachelor’s degree in a supply chain or customs trade-related program as asset
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Customs
CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) certification is an asset.
Knowledge of the CA Tariff and familiarity with Import documents such as B3’s
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel (Medium as a must, advanced an asset), Word, PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organization and time management skills, as well as adaptability to change.
Strong initiative and problem-solving ability
Flexible and able to work with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Capability to work independently and a strong team player with the eagerness to learn
