TPI Global SolutionsSourcing Manager Location: Remote Travel: Occasional travel to Jackson, MI Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager to support a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) 2.0 program within the utility and energy industry. The organization has operated its existing AMI program for approximately 15 years and is now advancing the program to support the next generation of smart metering capabilities. The initiative will focus on areas including smart meter technologies, data analytics, interoperability, communication protocols, centralized management, and edge components . This individual will serve as the dedicated sourcing and procurement lead for the AMI 2.0 program , bringing strong knowledge of the utility/metering industry, sourcing strategy, category management, procurement, and supplier management. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage sourcing activities dedicated to the AMI 2.0 program . Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with program requirements, timelines, and business objectives. Identify, evaluate, and source appropriate materials, technologies, products, and suppliers required for the AMI program. Support the development and execution of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) . Research and evaluate potential suppliers and analyze sourcing results, proposals, pricing, capabilities, and overall fit. Support contracting and commercial activities associated with AMI suppliers and vendors. Manage supplier relationships throughout the sourcing and procurement lifecycle. Develop and maintain sourcing strategies for key AMI categories and supplier groups. Work closely with internal stakeholders, procurement teams, technical teams, and the broader AMI project organization. Serve as the primary sourcing/program owner supporting procurement-related activities for the AMI 2.0 initiative. Support sourcing activities related to smart meters, data analytics, interoperability, communication protocols, centralized management platforms, and edge components . Monitor supplier performance, market conditions, and supply-base developments relevant to AMI and grid modernization. Apply category management principles to develop sustainable sourcing and supplier strategies. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand technical, operational, commercial, and project requirements. Support negotiations and supplier selection activities based on project requirements and sourcing objectives. Maintain appropriate sourcing documentation, supplier information, RFI/RFP results, and contracting records. Required Qualifications Prior experience supporting Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), smart metering, utility, or related energy projects . Strong knowledge of the power and utility industry . Understanding of the utility metering and grid modernization supply base , including relevant products, technologies, and vendors. Strong experience in strategic sourcing and procurement . Experience applying category management principles and developing sourcing strategies. Strong supplier and vendor management experience. Hands-on experience managing RFI and RFP processes . Experience supporting contracting, negotiations, and commercial activities . Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with technical, procurement, engineering, project, and business stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AMI 2.0 or next-generation AMI programs . Background in smart meter technologies and associated infrastructure. Understanding of smart meter communication protocols and interoperability . Knowledge of AMI head-end systems, centralized management, edge components, and related technologies . Experience supporting sourcing for data analytics and data/communication technologies . Understanding of grid modernization initiatives and utility technology ecosystems.
