The OpportunityThe Maple Leaf Foods (MLF) Procurement team is responsible for the Strategic Sourcing of goods and services across the organization. The team is focused on generating value for the business, lowering organizational risk and providing excellent stakeholder support.An opportunity exists to join the Procurement team as a Sourcing Buyer, this position is responsible for working collaboratively with Procurement team members and business stakeholders to strategically source categories to improve overall value to MLF. The successful candidate can expect to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and be exposed to Six Sigma methodologies delivered through ARIBA and SAP platforms. The incumbent will immediately engage in challenging Strategic Sourcing initiatives.The Sourcing Buyer will work closely with Procurement operations, the leadership team, and key stakeholders on competitive cost sourcing initiatives of assigned spend categories. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leaf’s annual short-term incentive plan.Snapshot Of a Day-in-the-LifeWork collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to create and implement strategic sourcing strategiesProvide leadership and expertise in a variety of areas including category strategy support and development, RFX development and oversight, and vendor negotiationsDevelop and execute source plans for key spend categoriesRun transparent RFX eventsParticipate in contract negotiations with key vendorsLead cross-functional project teams to execute sourcing initiativesManage constructive supplier relationships for assigned categoriesMeet annual cost reduction targets in assigned categoriesFacilitate bids, analysis and negotiations for goods and servicesLead accurate and timely processing of all purchase orders according to MLF standard processManage the business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/volume/ delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc.Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of suppliers and capabilitiesAssist with contract development and executionManage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of good and services that meet the quality, service and price performance standards of the companyIdentify, prioritize and impact key business opportunitiesWork with stakeholders and leadership teams to implement and enforce polices that increase spend visibility and complianceWork closely with Finance teams to expedite receiving and AP processesWhat You’ll BringPost secondary education, preferably in Business or Engineering2-3 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing / Procurement or related disciplineSuperior analytical skills – able to draw insights and form recommendationsHigh level of energy and enthusiasm with ability to project influential leadershipTeam player with strong interpersonal, communication and presentatio…
