Shred, Warehouse, & Maintenance Assistant

Summary This position is responsible for supporting warehouse operations, secure document destruction, inventory handling, and facility maintenance. Daily responsibilities include processing customer records, operating shredding equipment, organizing warehouse inventory, loading and unloading materials, and assisting with general building and equipment upkeep. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys physical work, can safely operate equipment, and is willing to assist wherever needed to support daily operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Warehouse Operations & Secure Destruction Processes incoming and outgoing customer records, including pulling, shelving, re-filing, and organizing inventory. Operates shredding, baling, and other warehouse equipment safely after proper training. Sorts, prepares, and securely destroys confidential customer materials. Loads, unloads, and moves boxes, wheeled bins, pallets, carts, and containers throughout the warehouse. Maintains accurate inventory by scanning, barcoding, and processing customer assets as required. Performs routine warehouse housekeeping, including sweeping, organizing work areas, and maintaining clean workspaces. Assists drivers with loading, unloading, and operational support when needed. Maintains strict confidentiality and chain of custody for customer records and materials. Assists with warehouse projects and other operational duties as assigned. Cross-trains in warehouse, destruction, and other operations functions to provide coverage during vacations, peak workloads, and special projects. Facility & Equipment Maintenance Performs general warehouse cleaning and organization. Maintains cleanliness around shredding equipment and work areas. Assists with shredder maintenance, lubrication, and basic preventative maintenance. Performs minor building repairs, including replacing light bulbs and basic facility upkeep. Assists with maintenance of pallet jacks, rolling carts, shelving, ladders, and warehouse equipment. Identifies and reports maintenance or safety concerns promptly to management. Assists with facility improvement projects and miscellaneous operational tasks. Safety & Security Follows all company safety policies and procedures. Uses appropriate PPE and safety equipment at all times. Maintains awareness of surroundings when operating near machinery and moving equipment. Reports unsafe conditions or equipment issues immediately. Maintains strict confidentiality and security standards regarding customer materials and company property. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, use hands and arms, and work around moving machinery. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Frequently pushes, pulls, and transports loaded carts, bins, and pallets throughout the warehouse. Works on feet for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work may be performed in warehouse environments with varying temperatures, dust, noise, and moving mechanical equipment. Certificates, Licenses, and Requirements Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred. Must be comfortable operating company vehicles and equipment when necessary. Forklift experience or certification is a plus, but not required. Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools preferred.
