Shop/Yard Laborer

Overview The Shop/Yard Laborer supports daily warehouse distribution and yard operations by preparing orders, moving materials, and assisting with shipping and receiving. This hands-on role involves safe material handling, equipment use, and coordination with colleagues to keep goods moving accurately and efficiently. Duties Pick and stage orders using an order picker, and help load and unload materials for incoming and outgoing shipments. Assist with shipping and receiving, verify items against order information, and update records in the warehouse management system. Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, cranes, and other heavy equipment as appropriate to assigned tasks and established procedures. Move and organize materials, perform heavy lifting, and maintain orderly work areas across the shop and yard. Qualifications Required: Practical ability to follow instructions, handle materials carefully, perform order picking, and load and unload goods; mechanical knowledge supports safe, effective equipment use. Preferred: Warehouse experience, including warehouse distribution, shipping and receiving, and warehouse management systems, is helpful, as are order picker, forklift, crane, clamp truck, or other heavy equipment operation skills and construction experience.
