Overview Join our dynamic team as a Shop/Yard Assistant and become a vital part of our busy warehouse and construction yard operations! In this energetic role, you will support the efficient movement, organization, and management of materials, heavy equipment, and supplies. Your proactive approach will help ensure safety, accuracy, and productivity across all yard activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to develop hands-on skills in warehouse distribution, heavy equipment operation, and logistics management within a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist with the loading and unloading of materials using heavy equipment such as Telehandler, forklift, cranes, and other machinery Prepare orders accurately for job requirements, ensuring proper handling and documentation Operate heavy equipment safely to load, unload, and transport materials around the yard or warehouse Maintain organized storage areas by sorting, stacking, and securing items according to safety standards Support shipping and receiving processes by inspecting incoming goods and preparing outgoing shipments Conduct routine inspections of yard equipment and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly Follow management system procedures to track job requisitions and update records efficiently Experience Previous experience working in a welding/fabrication environment is highly preferred Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, or similar machinery Hands-on experience with shipping & receiving procedures including load & unload activities Ability to perform heavy lifting safely for extended periods during busy periods Knowledge of welding/fabrication or related industries is a plus but not mandatory Valid certifications for telehandler, skid steer and forklift operation or crane use are advantageous but can be provided upon hiring This role offers a vibrant work environment where your skills will directly contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities.
