Shop Technician / DZ Driver
Insitu Contractors IncDriver / Shop Technician- Job Description Reports To Shop Manager (Guelph) Summary The Driver / Shop Technician is primarily to be employed as a DZ licensed truck driver making deliveries and pick-ups with our flat-bed tilt and load truck as well as our water tank trucks. They are responsible for supporting the field operations with timely deliveries and pick-ups of our equipment and materials to and from jobsites. As a secondary role, when there are no deliveries or driving to be done, this person will be employed in the Guelph workshop as a technician for repairing and maintaining various equipment. Specific Job Duties; Drive heavy trucks to make deliveries or to pick up materials and equipment. Drive vehicles as needed including towing trailers and equipment. Inspect equipment and vehicles in accordance with established procedures and checklists Maintain an electronic log book of on duty driving as required by MTO Assist the shop team in performing moderate to complex servicing and repair work on pumps, engines and other necessary power equipment. Use a variety of testing equipment and methods to determine malfunctions and the need for repair Check and change oil, oil filters, fuel filters and air filters in diesel and gas equipment Service and repair vehicles (if licensed) Maintain records of work performed and the need for future servicing. Complete maintenance and repair work to equipment (pipes, hoses, fittings) Advise shop manager of work that has been and remains to be completed Perform other related work as required and assigned. Clean and maintain shop facilities and equipment Work Environment; Travel to and from jobsites is required Overtime as required Hazards associated with driving as well as maintenance and repair. Work both indoors and outdoors May be exposed to high levels of noise Core Competencies; Excellent Defensive Driving Skills Knowledge of tilt and load equipment an asset Knowledge of proper loading techniques an asset Proven mechanical abilities, and strong working knowledge of mechanical application and repair techniques Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment Creative and innovative thinking with problem solving skills Accountability and Dependability with strong attention to detail. Able to operate heavy equipment competently Hand and Power tool skills Good written and oral communication Good team work with a strong ability to also work independently Requirements; Possess a valid Class DZ license with a clean drivers abstract Knowledge of load securement standards required.
