SHOP SUPERVISOR POSITION SUMMARY The Shop Supervisor is responsible for the operational readiness of Wild Ridge Lawn & Landscape's full equipment fleet, overseeing maintenance, repairs, inventory, and shop team performance to ensure every crew hits the field with the tools and equipment they need to deliver exceptional work. ABOUT WILD RIDGE LAWN & LANDSCAPE Wild Ridge Lawn & Landscape is a leading commercial landscaping company based in Indianapolis, Indiana, dedicated to providing top-quality lawn care, landscape maintenance, design, and snow and ice management services to commercial properties across the region. Founded by Joe and Krista Wildridge on a shared passion for doing things the right way, the company has grown into a trusted partner for some of the area's top organizations, delivering exceptional service, attention to detail, and genuine care on every property they manage. Powered by passion, dedicated to details, and rooted in relationships, Wild Ridge invests deeply in its people and its clients alike, with a mission to consistently perform the highest quality workmanship with unmatched responsiveness on every project. SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Every piece of equipment in the Wild Ridge fleet is maintained on schedule, fully operational, and ready for deployment, with zero crews delayed at the start of a shift due to equipment failures that could have been prevented. Shop costs, parts inventory, and vendor relationships are managed with discipline, keeping maintenance expenses predictable and the shop operating within budget without sacrificing quality or safety. You are the person the Director of Operations and field team counts on to say "it's ready" — and you are right every time. OBJECTIVES Maintain the full equipment fleet on a proactive maintenance schedule, including mowers, trucks, trailers, snow equipment, hand tools, and small engines, ensuring all equipment is inspected, serviced, and roadworthy at all times. Diagnose and coordinate the repair of mechanical failures on all fleet vehicles and equipment, completing or scheduling repairs within established turnaround standards so no crew is left without critical equipment. Manage parts and supplies inventory, tracking stock levels in real time, placing orders before shortages occur, and maintaining an organized, clean, and auditable shop environment. Build and maintain the preventive maintenance calendar for all equipment, completing scheduled services on time and documenting every service event, repair, and inspection in the fleet management system. Manage fuel inventory and dispensing, tracking usage by vehicle and equipment, reporting anomalies, and maintaining compliance with all fuel storage and safety regulations. Coordinate equipment assignment and availability with the Director of Operations and Project SUPERVISORs, ensuring the right equipment is staged and ready for the right crews at the right time. Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships for parts suppliers, equipment dealers, and outside repair shops, negotiating pricing and turnaround standards that protect both quality and cost. Oversee and develop shop team members, setting clear expectations, training on proper tool and equipment handling, and conducting performance conversations when standards are not met. Manage the equipment procurement process in partnership with leadership, researching, spec'ing, and onboarding new equipment and ensuring all new assets are properly registered, insured, and entered into the fleet management system. Enforce all safety standards in the shop and on equipment, including OSHA requirements, PPE compliance, equipment lockout/tagout procedures, and the reporting and documentation of all safety incidents. Submit a weekly shop report to the Director of Fleet Management covering equipment status, open work orders, upcoming scheduled maintenance, parts orders pending, and any fleet issues requiring leadership attention.
