Role Summary The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for insuring shipping personnel complete all aspects of the shipping process. This includes checking and backing trailers to dock, loading trailers, palletizing partials, loading mail and freight, printing load sheets and keeping up with temperatures after loading. Key Responsibilities Supervisor tracks employees’ punch times including in and out, break and lunch times. Ensure all products are loaded out follow the FIFO program. Ensure that clerks maintain a clean and safe working environment. Ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, and shipment of finished goods. Monitor shipping schedules, inventory and coordinate with transportation teams. Verify shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping manifests. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements. Train, coach, and supervise shipping personnel to ensure productivity and efficiency. Monitor workload distribution and staffing needs to meet shipping deadlines. Maintain accurate inventory control and shipping records in the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP system. Conduct regular inspections to ensure shipping areas are organized and compliant with safety standards. Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged goods, or delivery issues. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve shipping efficiency and accuracy. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of shipping, logistics, and distribution processes. Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of inventory control and shipping documentation procedures. Qualifications Possess a valid driver's license. Maintain acceptable driving record. Able to communicate, read and write in the English language. Able to work overtime as needed. Willingness to learn new skills. Physical and Work Environment Requirements Mobility: Requires frequent walking, sitting, standing and movement throughout the shift for extended periods. Manual Dexterity: Must be able to perform repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Visual acuity both near and far: Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers, as well as clarity of vision at 20 feet or more- this is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well. Hearing: The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes or alarms). Environmental Conditions: Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work Environment Ability to work in a warehouse environment with forklifts, moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures between outside ambient temperature and -20 F. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, gloves, and high-visibility vest as required. Work environment subject to change based on duties performed.
