Shipping Supervisor Monday- Friday 8:30am – 5pm Job Summary Responsible for making decisions on orders to make sure shipping is running smoothly and all orders are going out of the door accurately. Essential Duties Promotes Safety Awareness. Performs all duties in a safe manner and efficient manner while following all safety rules. Ensures safety within the department. Conducts monthly safety meetings and weekly safety meetings for all direct staff to include daily toolbox talks. Responsible for the enforcement and compliance of work rules and policies. Willing to walk through potential hiring candidates and explain the shipping process. Provides direct training to new employees. This includes giving the proper safety sign-off sheets. Be able to use computer for various functions; including comfortable navigation of Radius and Microsoft Office Applications. Manage warehouse transfers. Contact carrier representatives accordingly to make arrangements, issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Keep track of all back-order stock items and ensure the relevant Department Supervisor is aware. Liaison between Shipping/Receiving Department and Customer Service Department. Schedules shipping orders and necessary labor to maintain service levels. Ensures overall cleanliness and organization of the department. Fills in wherever is needed when an employee is absent. Makes suggestions for continuous process improvements. Be able/willing to communicate confidently through the appropriate channels. This can include proper use and dictation through an email platform. Performs employee evaluations. Approves vacation requests according to acceptable levels. Conducts effective coaching and counseling sessions. Ability to use Radius. Any other duties determined by management. attendance Attendance on-site required Supervisory Responsabilities Responsibility includes monitoring activities of the shipping clerk, receiving clerk and lead and includes the overall supervision of subordinates in the department. Candidate Requirements Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Need to have computer skills. Need to possess experience in shipping and receiving role. Language skills: Must be able to read, speak and comprehend English. Certificates and Registrations: Certified in first aid and CPR is required. Forklift and reach truck certification. Other: Must be able to use a calculator and understand concepts of basic math. Must be proficient at reading a ruler. Must be familiar with basic small tools, including pallet jacks, and fork trucks. Computer experience in Excel and Word is required. Physical demands Must be able to push, pull, kneel, reach, sit, hear, walk and see. Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours at the time. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a random basis.
